In October 2009, HerInteractive plans to release a new Nancy Drew computer game: Warnings at Waverly Academy. Yay!
The blurb from their site states:
“You, as Nancy Drew, are undercover at a prestigious girls’ boarding school to discover the culprit behind threatening notes and dangerous accidents aimed at its valedictorian candidates! Is there a secret someone wants to protect or are the malicious pranks intended to scare away the competition – permanently? Solve the mystery before the threats turn deadly and you’re expelled from the case!”
In this game, Nancy and her best friends George Fayne and Bess Marvin are heading to the Bahamas for a fun-filled vacation. However, as usual, something goes awry. By the time Nancy arrives at the resort, Bess has gone missing, she has been kidnapped and being held for ransom. Now you, as Nancy or George, get to go snorkeling and swimming and diving and all that good stuff to solve a 300‑year‑old mystery and save Bess.
We have a new location to buy Nancy Drew Games. Steam has partnered with Her Interactive to offer six of the Nancy Drew games at discount prices. At the time of this writing, Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice is only $9.99. The other titles currently available are Legend of the Crystal Skull, The Haunting of Castle Malloy, The White Wolf of Icicle Creek, The Creature of Kapu Cave, and some time today Ransom of the Seven Ships should be released.
In Ransom of the Seven Ships, Nancy Drew and her best friends, Bess Marvin and George Fayne, plan a little trip to the Bahamas, but of course by the time Nancy arrives at the resort, the owners are nowhere to be found and Bess has been kidnapped.
In The Haunting of Castle Malloy, Nancy Drew has been invited to Ireland to be the maid of honor at an old friend’s wedding, but by the time she gets there the groom has gone AWOL. Did he just get cold feet or was he taken by a banshee?
In the Phantom of Venice, Nancy Drew is asked to infiltrate a crime ring to help the Italian police catch a masked thief who has managed to elude them for months.
In Legend of the Crystal Skull, you team up with Nancy Drew’s best friend, Bess Marvin, to try and solve the mystery of a missing crystal skull called “whisperer”. Whisperer is rumored to protect its owner from any cause of death, except murder. You get to go undercover in the French Quarter with this mystery.
In The Wolf of Icicle Creek, Nancy Drew is asked to investigate the strange occurrences at Icicle Creek Lodge located in the Canadian Rockies. Many strange “accidents” have been happening and a mysterious howling wolf seems to be at the location of each.
In The Creature of Kapu Cave, Nancy heads to Hawaii to be a research assistant for entomologist, Dr. Kim. When Nancy arrives, she finds that the camp has been ransacked and Dr. Kim is missing. Guess who else is working on a case there, those other great teen sleuths the Hardy Boys.
In Danger by Design, Nancy Drew has taken up another internship, this time in an esteemed fashion design studio. For some strange reason, the lead designer has taken to wearing a white mask and throwing tantrums, and to top it off threats are now arriving at the studio.
Ah, Nancy Drew, the titian-haired teenage detective that has captured the interest of many, many a girl (and woman) from her appearance in 1930 to this current day.
Nancy Drew is a smart, sophisticated, all-American girl who always finds a mystery to solve, many of which involve the cases of her widowed father, Carson Drew, a highly respected and successful attorney in the fictional town of River Heights.
The success of Nancy Drew has brought us over 500 books, interactive PC and video games, TV dramas, movies, and more.
