Nancy Drew Mystery Stories
These are the original Nancy Drew Stories. The first 56 books (The Secret of the Old Clock to The Thirteenth Pearl) were published from 1930 to 1979 by Grosset & Dunlap. In 1979, The Stratemeyer Syndicate (creator of Nancy Drew) changed publishers and Simon & Schuster started publishing the stories with Book 57, The Triple Hoax. There are now 175 books in the series. Oftimes, Books 57-175 are referred to as Nancy Drew Digests because they were printed as digest-size paperbacks. A few of the books between 57 and 78 were also available in hardback.
Of special note is the fact that Books 1-34 are available in an original text and a revised text version. From the years 1959 to 1977, the earlier books were changed and/or updated to shorten the length from 25 to 20 chapters; remove outdated slang, stereotypes, and prejudices; and to update Nancy's character a bit. In general, she was aged up to 18 and her personality was toned down and evened out to make her a bit less feisty.

However, it is said that Crowley's antique clock, which is missing, contains a clue to the location of his real will.
Is it possible that strange old Josiah Crowley made two wills -- one genuine and one a fake? Intrigued by the situation, Nancy begins searching for the clock, but it seems that someone doesn't want her to find it. Will Nancy be able to overcome the challenges of her investigation and outwit those who are trying to stop her? And will the clock's contents turn out to be what she's expecting?
